Feel at liberty to speak truthfully, but always remember to be respectful of your classmates and teachers. Mr. Harris
I think he'll make a good president, as long as other powerful people in the U.S. Government work with him to find solutions to the nation's problems.
ReplyDeletei disagree !
ReplyDelete4:46 AM ?! why are you up so late little man?
ReplyDelete...If Obama retreats our troops in Iraq, WE'RE ALL GOING TO DIE!!!Nah, we're not going to. BUT IRAQ IS!!! WE'RE ALL GONNA DIE!!!
ReplyDeleteI'd say Obama would be great if he would do things for the citizens' favor like a good amount of tax and sales tax. An better and organized place can be done. Including NO pollution, littering, drugs, and especially NO smoking. That is how I think he should do to be respected as an great president.

Barack Obama would be a successful president if he makes better policies. He should create jobs that would actually help America. He should also make a better policy for Iraq. In addition, Obama should lower taxes. Lowering taxes helps business thrive. Thriving business would help the economy. Raising taxes would not help business get better, which will result in a bad economy. We don't want an economy worse than what what it is already. In history, the British taxed the colonists, which angered them. This led to the Revolutionary War. Do we want this to happen again? We shouldn't repeat the bad parts of history.
ReplyDeleteDepending on how he does on his first term, Obama might serve another term. If he serves well in his first term, there is a great chance that he would become the president for a second term. If he does a poor job on his first term, most likely, the people will not vote him as president again. This puts a lot of pressure on Obama to do well in his first term.
I would say Obama would be a great president if he would lead the country out of its economical crisis. He would also be great if he worked toward stopping global warming. Like Bernie said, NO pollution, NO littering, NO drugs, and NO smoking. Saving energy and using "green (environmental-friendly) technology" would help, too. This is how Obama could create a better organized country. I also think Obama should keep PEACE with other countries - which means NO WAR. Obama should also cooperate with other U.S. officials, like Mr. Harris said. This way, Obama might gain more respect. If he accomplishes this, he might deserve to serve as U.S. president for eight years. We will soon see how successful the new U.S. president will be.
ReplyDeleteI think so too. Hopefully, Obama will do something good for the economy.
ReplyDeleteGreat responses guys! I'm glad to see so many students participating.
ReplyDeleteSanheili, I hope you're joking. If you're serious, I hope you get some rest and eat a good breakfast Monday morning.
Bernie, I agree with everything you said about Obama's policies. He needs to work on programs that will benefit all the people and help them live better lives.
Tiffany, you made an excellent point when you compared the dangers of taxing businesses in today's economy, with the Revolutionary War. Desperate times call for desperate measures, and the government will need revenue to make new programs that help people. How will they get it is the problem.
Diana, you couldn't be more right about Obama being a great President if he leads us out of this crisis.
There's an old question, "Is it the man that makes the times or the times that make the man?"
Which of these more accurately describes Barack Obama's situation?
Do you think Bama isn't going to do what he said since that now he's president. I hope he isn't going to be like G. Bush or even worse...
ReplyDeleteI think President elect Obama will be extremely successful. He is already taking drastic action to lead our country out of the economic crisis. I think he'll be an awesome president.
ReplyDeleteI think that it is "the times that make the man". Right now, America is in war and financial difficulties. Obama was elected to help our country improve in our situation. Obama has to take "the times", or the situation, in account to create laws and policies for our country.
ReplyDeleteMr. Harris, what does "Is it the man that makes the times or the times that make the man?" really mean? -Tiffany 722
ReplyDeleteTiffany, I think that it means that a man can either get himself into a big mess or a good situation because of his own actions. Or, the events going on in the world can shape a man's actions or personality. But why is it in the fom of a question? - Valentyna 722
ReplyDeleteThanks Valentyna! It is in the form of a question because if you scroll up this page, Mr. Harris tells us that there is an old question "Is it the man that makes the times or the times that make the man?" Then, he asks which one best fits Obama's situation. Which do you think?
ReplyDeleteI think that after all the "good" things Bush did, Obama will change the economy around... ina couple of years. Although I voted for Mcccccccccccain, I hope that Obama does well as president. I don't really care who's president, as long as the economy gets better.
ReplyDeleteBy the way, I think Obama will serve for 8 years
ReplyDeleteI agree with you Joseph. As long as the president improves our country, I don't really care who the president is either.
ReplyDeleteIf Obama does well first term, he'll probably serve for 8 years. If he doesn't do well first term, I don't think people will vote for him next term.
ReplyDeleteI think that Obama will do OK in his first term- there are some good things that he says that he is planning to do to make America better but even though the Public wants Obama to withdraw troops form Iraq, is that really the best strategic choice? I think that actions speak louder than words and we'll just have to wait and see how he does in his first term. I think that it is impossible to predict if he will serve for 8 years until he actually start doing things. Popularity is reflected by actions and policy but the majority is not necessarily right in their demands.
