ReplyDeleteThe British shouldn't of hired Hessians. They are really unreliable (when they got drunk) and unloyal to the British. All they wanted was money. This video is really good! It shows how unreliable the Hessians were when the British needed them to fight the Patriots.
ReplyDeleteWell, there were many who were not motivated to fight on the Hessian side, but essentially the Americans out maneuvered them and surprised them in a way that made escape nearly impossible. Johann Rall, the Hessian colonels was mortally wounded during the battle as were several other colonels. I probably overstated the drunkenness of the troops. Many historians now believe that Germans had not been drinking at all and that that was a myth passed down through history. Another bit of evidence, a note found in Rall's pocket warning him of an American attack, has been held up as evidence or Rall's poor leadership. Either way the American victory was kept the war from ending prematurely.
ReplyDeletei think that this video is absolutely hilarious. it explains the battle in a way that anyone can understand. i think that maria and kamille were trying to portray how the British general could not wake up his troops because of how drunk they were. he didn't know what they might do or say. even if they said something they shouldn't, wouldn't it be better than just letting the patriots conquer the camps?
ReplyDeleteWell, my group (Kamille, Maria, Bernie, and me) created this video in order to explain the Battle of Trenton in an entertaining way, that was easy to understand. Yes, the British were wrong to hire the Hessians. And the Hessians were kind of stupid, to celebrate and get drunk, while a war was taking place. So, the Patriots got the advantage and defeated them in the Battle of Trenton. As you might have noticed, Kamille and Maria portrayed the Hessians; Bernie, I, and some other kids in class 721 portayed the angry Americans; and Maria's brothet portrayed the Patriot soldiers. And of course, thanks for all your help, Mr. Harris!!!
